A pair of dominant centers were named the Players of the Week for games played Monday, July 8th through Sunday, July 14th. Chicago Sky's Sylvia Fowles and Los Angelos Sparks' Candace Parker took home the honors. Both players have been dominate in the past week.
In the two games the Sky played last week, both wins, Fowles averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 blocks. This is Fowles' first Player of the Week honor of the season and the sixth in her career. Fowles also marks the third consecutive week that a Chicago Sky player has been named Player of the Week. Rookie Elena Delle-Donne took home the award the past two weeks (6/30 and 7/7).
This award is Parker's third of the season and her second consecutive. Over her career, she's been named Western Conference Player of the Week thirteen times. Parker led the WNBA last week averaging 25.5 points per game. She also topped the West by shooting 62% from the field and landed third in the rebounding category (8 per game). The Sparks also won their two games during the week which just happened to be their first two road wins of the season.
