Art Donovan died Sunday night at Stella Maris Hospice in Baltimore. He was 88 years old.
Donovan played for the Baltimore Colts and was part of the 1958 and 1959 world champion teams. During his 11-year career (1950-1961), he also played for the New York Yanks and the Dallas Texans. His jersey, number 70, was retired by Baltimore.
The defensive tackle was not only a great football player, but he was also a jokester in the locker room. Colleagues will always have funny stories to remember him by. Many of these stories are highlighted in his autobiography "Fatso".
Art was a classy guy who would always take time to stop and talk to fans and sign autographs.
